BUILDING AND DEPLOYMENT

Simply invoke:

	$ ant
	 
at the project's root folder to build and package the webapp's WAR file. Upon the completion of the ant's task, 
you will find a file called 'BOSS2.war' in the project's root folder. Following the installation guide at
  
 	http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/boss/maintenance.php
 
to deploy BOSS2. Also, note that the source files (.java files) are not included in the war package. 
 

SETTING UP ECLIPSE TO DEVELOP BOSS2
===================================
Simply create a new Java project in Eclipse from the existing source folder (i.e., the folder where you found
this file). Note that for consistency purpose, the default output folder should be set to something sensible
(separate folder from the source, of course). If an ant build was run prior to this step, the build folder
should already be in place and Eclipse's new project wizard should pick up the folder 'build/classes' as
the default output folder.  

As you might have guess, this will create a general Java project in Eclipse without the ability
to run BOSS within Eclipse (given that you are running the adequate Eclipse distribution with Tomcat and
other web development goodies integrated). To overcome this, one has to convert the general Java project to
Dynamic Web project. Unfortunately, there are no automatic way to do this. The .project file has to be
manually edited (by choosing Navigate > Open Resource and the search for .project) to contain the following
within the <natures> tag

	<nature>org.eclipse.jem.workbench.JavaEMFNature</nature>
	<nature>org.eclipse.wst.common.modulecore.ModuleCoreNature</nature>
	<nature>org.eclipse.wst.common.project.facet.core.nature</nature>
	<nature>org.eclipse.jdt.core.javanature</nature>
	<nature>org.eclipse.wst.jsdt.core.jsNature</nature>

Having saved the .project file, call up the Properties panel of the project, under Project Facets section,
select 'Dynamic Web Module' and 'Java' and click OK. More info can be found on

Now, as the project has been changed to a web project, one can choose 'Run on Server' to run the project on
Tomcat's server within Eclipse. If there's no server setup previously, the first run will ask for a server
to be setting up. This step is just as simple as pointing to the folder where Tomcat has been installed in
the system.

If this project's source was obtained by cloning the git repository of BOSS2 on github, you can also choose
to make this Eclipse project git-controlled (i.e., versioning control using git from inside Eclipse). This
way you could track the latest changes of the development as well as pushing your own contribution if you
managed to obtain the push privilege to the upstream repo. on github. Since you have cloned the repo., 
the project folder itself is already a git repository; you only need to make Eclipse aware of the project's
"gitness". This can be achieved by first install the EGit plugin for Eclipse from the software site

Then, right-click on the project, choose Team > Share Project, select Git and basically just follow the
