F-ReC
=====

F-ReC stands for Function-ReCognition and is a prototype for recognizing 
functions from training data using genetic computation patterns.

The whole idea is based on representing functions as trees - Read's linear
code is used to encode such trees (this encoding among others is suitable 
for genetic operations, such as mutation and crossing, over trees).
These tree structure is sometimes called a "syntax tree" as well.

Core
----

The application has a reusable core part for genetic computing over functions.
For further details see the javadoc for the _org.kares.math.frec.core_ package.

GUI
---

There's a ugly but usable UI based on AWT/Swing which is the first thing You'll
see when You run the program. It's not that intuitive but the purpose of the panel
with the coordinate system is to gather input from the user. Use Your mouse to draw
some lines which would represent the data of the approximated function.

JCM
---

The GUI part uses a slightly hacked version of JCM (Java Components for Math) 
library. The library comes with a bunch of AWT components, for documentation and 
examples please see the JCM homepage (http://math.hws.edu/javamath).

Building & Running
==================

You'll need ant (http://ant.apache.org/):

		ant run

See build.xml for available ant targets.
